How Early Reading Can Create Genius Children

Teaching your kids to read especially at an early age is an excellent thing to do. It will help your child to increase their vocabulary, their comprehension skills and their overall knowledge. Intelligent children are all proficient readers and if they start reading early then it answers the questions like “how to increase the IQ of a child?”, “how to make your child a genius?” and/or “how to raise a smart child?”

If you want intelligent kids and want to know how to increase the IQ in your kids, then you should teach them how to read early in their life. It will help to improve their cognitive abilities and will help in your quest of raising a genius. Once your toddler or your child has learned how to read, they will want to use this skill all of their life and build up their general knowledge about the world around them. Learning to read early is more likely to make your child intelligent and will go a long way to raising intelligent kids.

The development of a child’s brain architecture provides the foundation for all future learning, behavior, and health

In other words, reading will make your child smarter[1]. And it is essential if you want to know how to increase your child’s IQ and raise a genius. When your child is a proficient reader, they will want to read and learn more and it is one of the best ways to make your child smarter and to develop your kids IQ. The opposite is also true. If your child has reading difficulties then it is very unlikely that they will become a child genius because they will not enjoy reading and the learning riches that it brings.

How To Improve Intelligence In Children

Matthew’s Effect demonstrates the cognitive development of a child at different stages of their life and explains that children with good reading foundation skills will achieve much higher levels of reading development in later years than children who do not have these foundation skills.

You can see from the chart that if a child does not have the foundation skills and is not able to proficiently read by Grade 4, they are likely to have a problem with reading their entire life and new skills development is likely to be hampered.

If your child has the early foundation skills then their reading development will be accelerated as they move through the grade years and this will lead to a much higher chance of them achieving academic success.

This accelerated reading development creates a positive upward spiral for your child and it is more likely to make your child more intelligent. If you want to know how to improve your child’s IQ then you need to increase their cognitive skills and this is best achieved through reading. To have the best chance of raising genius kids you need to teach them to read early.

You need to give your young child all the help and support that you can to develop their reading skills and make them a smarter child. As a parent you should be concerned with ways to increase the IQ of your kids and you do not want your child to be a poor reader who gets bored when reading because they find it too difficult. This will lead to a downward spiral at an early age.

What do these upward and downward spiral movements mean to the academic success of your child? If your child is a poor or slow reader, they will find it very difficult to understand the true meaning of the text they are reading.

Words will be difficult for them to decode and they will spend more time on just reading than understanding what the text is trying to convey. This will certainly affect their academic development and hold them back in life.

If your child is a proficient and fluent reader then the opposite is true. They will be able to decode the words in the text with ease and understand the meaning of the text very quickly. They will be a lot more interested in reading and learning in general and will achieve far greater academic success. This is the best way to improve the IQ in kids and to make your child more intelligent.

The earlier that you teach your kids to read the more chance you will have of raising intelligent children that will go on to great things academically.

How To Make Kids Smarter By Encouraging Them To Read Books

If you want to know how to make your kids smarter, then the answer lies in encouraging them to read more books. A child will improve their vocabulary significantly from reading. The words that they hear and learn to speak will help in this regard too but making kids smarter is all about reading.

Hayes and Ahrens conducted research into this area and found that a number of children’s books contained words that were rare when compared to what they hear on television when watching children’s programs. They also compared the words in children’s books to adult conversation and found that the books contained three times as many rare words. So, if you want to raise a brighter child then encourage them to read good children’s books.

In another study by Stanovich and Cunningham they examined three measures of Grade 1 reading and word recognition, comprehension and word decoding and found that all of these measures were a good predictor of reading ability in the 11th Grade.

This meant that early reading was vital when it came to predicting the literary experience of a child in their lifetime and proved that it was the answer to raising an intelligent child. The study also demonstrated that if a child learned to read early, they would generally read more throughout their lifetime.

Children Learning Reading, How to Teach a Child to Read

Children who engage in reading also enhance their overall verbal intelligence as well. So, if you have ever asked yourself “how to make your kid smarter?” or “how to develop your child’s IQ?” then reading is the answer as it increases their levels of intelligence by compensating for a lower level of cognitive ability in your child. It has also been found that learning to read early has a significant impact on the intellectual development of your child and is a key factor if you want to raise intelligent children.

The human race has known some extremely bright minds in history and the raising of these intelligent children was mainly due to them being able to read at an early age of 2 or 3 years old.
